Saudi End of Service Benefit Calculator (2026)

Leaving a job in Saudi Arabia? Your end-of-service benefit (ESB, often called gratuity or mukafaat nihayat al-khidma) is set by Articles 84 and 85 of the Saudi Labour Law — and the amount changes a great deal depending on whether you resigned or your contract was ended by the employer. Enter your dates and salary below for an itemised estimate.

Use your last actual wage including fixed allowances — not the basic salary alone. Variable items such as commission or overtime are excluded.

Legal basis — Article 84: half a month's wage for each of the first five years, and a full month's wage for each year after that, calculated on the last wage. Article 85 (resignation): nothing before two years of service; one third from two up to five years; two thirds from five up to ten years; and the full amount from ten years onward. This estimate does not cover unfair-dismissal compensation (Article 77) or the special cases in Articles 80 and 87. Periods are counted on the Gregorian calendar for simplicity; the law uses the Hijri calendar unless the contract states otherwise, so the exact figure may differ slightly. Indicative only — not legal advice.

Does resigning cancel my end-of-service benefit?

Not entirely, but it reduces it under Article 85. With less than two years of service you receive nothing; between two and five years you receive one third; from five to ten years, two thirds; and from ten years onward you receive the full amount.

Which salary is the calculation based on?

Your last wage including fixed allowances such as housing and transport — not the basic salary on its own. That distinction often changes the result by thousands of riyals.

What is the benefit after exactly five years?

Five years at half a month each equals 2.5 months of your last wage. On a total wage of SAR 8,000 that is SAR 20,000 before the resignation fraction is applied, if you were the one who resigned.

Is unused annual leave included?

No. Payment for untaken annual leave is a separate entitlement from the end-of-service benefit and is calculated on its own.
